This handmade wooden cutting board is the perfect gift for anyone who appreciates and promotes sustainability & creativity as well as unique and functional products!
Wood From the Hood is a local Minneapolis business. It was started in 2008 because the owners were tired of seeing neighborhood trees getting cut into wood chips instead of prolonging the wood’s life by making it into reusable lumber.
These cutting boards are made from reclaimed trees in the Twin Cities. These cutting boards are 5/8″ inch thick and made from solid reclaimed Sugar Maple.
Size: 8" wide x 14" tall x 5/8" thick
Each board is labeled with the zip code and city it came from, making it a great story. Saving damaged trees and creating a use for them. Love it!
Each board is deep finished with Wood from the Hood's custom Mineral Bee cutting board conditioner, made from a mixture of local MN bee’s wax and food grade mineral oil.
Double-sided with juice groove on one side.
Rinse with warm soapy water.
Store on edge.
Do not soak or clean in the dishwasher.
Do not use in the microwave.
To maintain your board: Occasionally apply Mineral Bee Wood Conditioner or mineral oil liberally with a clean, soft cloth.
Since 2008, Cindy and Rick have grown and expanded Wood from the Hood to now sell products in over 40 stores! Wood from the Hood works with several tree companies and the Minneapolis Park Board to reclaim the urban forest.
They mill and dry the main trunks into usable lumber for retail products, slab lumber sales, and custom wood working & commercial architectural projects. Loved by many, the company has come a long way from just an idea tossed around in the Siewert household. As far as inspiring others, Cindy’s mantra is, “stick to it and have a mission - saving the environment has always been important to me.”
